Second as my social worker pointed out, right now "our story" of Claires adoption from Russia is beautiful and we love hearing it over and over again, but when Claire becomes a teenager, she might not want to share "our story" with coaches, schools, the DMV, etc or any of the other places or people that require copies of her birth certificate. It is well worth it. We live in CT and it is free here. Your social worker should know what needs to be done. But if you need to readopt to get new birth certificate... do it! Not that I believe she should have to, but you know you're going to come across some ignorant person one day that says "oh, I don't think I can accept this" because it wasn't issued in English. <br /><br />It wasn't too hard in TN.
